He was admitted to the hospital on August 1. Born on July 12, 1885 in Altoona, he was a son of Anthony and Catherine (Harmon) Bender. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Artisans & and PRR relief. Mr. Bender retired from the PRR Twelfth Street blacksmith shop in June, 1939, after thirty-two years of service with the company. He is survived by his window, Mrs. Emma (Ehrler) Bender; one daughter, Mrs. Helen Pech and one son, Louis, both of Altoona, three brothers, John A. of Johnstown; Charles of Lakemont and Joseph of Altoona, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Seymore of Tyrone.
