All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/blair/ _________________________________________ OSCAR BENDER Lieutenant of Truck B of the city fire department and located at No. 2 fire station, Sixth avenue and Thirteenth street, died at his home, 1402 Sixth avenue, at 8 o'clock yesterday morning of a heart condition after a week's illness. He had been a member of the city fire department for the past thirty years. Mr. Bender was born in Altoona, Oct. 26, 1876, a son of Anthony and Catherine [Harmon] Bender. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Louise (Jenszch) Bender with whom he was united in marriage twenty seven years ago; two sisters and five brothers, Mrs. George D. Clymer of Philadelphia; Mrs. W. J. Seymore of Tyrone; John A. Bender of Johnstown; William, Charles, Louis and Joseph Bender, all of this city. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Firemen's Association. Funeral services will be held at the late home at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., August 11, 1930
