BENDER Well known Pennsylvania railroad engineer residing at 515 Blair street, Hollidaysburg, died this morning at 2.10 o'clock at the Altoona hospital where he had been a patient for the past three weeks, death being attributed to a complication of ailments. He was the son of Simon, now deceased, and Mrs. Emma (Webb) Bender of Hollidaysburg and was born in Hollidaysburg on Dec. 3, 1888. He was united in marriage with Miss Verge Eckard of Roaring Spring on June 4, 1913. Mr. Bender was a member of St. Michael's Catholic church in Hollidaysburg and the B. of R. T., and had a service record with the Pennsylvania Railroad company of thirty-five years. Surviving are his wife and one son, William R. Bender, jr., of Harrisburg, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Anna Frank, Mrs. Charles Zimmerman, Mrs. Margaret Riley, Mrs. Charles Byers and Miss Madaline Bender, all of Hollidaysburg, Mrs. Earl Stanley of Loop, Frank Bender of Altoona and David Bender of Hollidaysburg. BENDER - Funeral services for William B. Bender of 515 Blair street, Hollidaysburg, will be held Monday morning at 9 o'clock with requiem mass at St. Michael's Catholic church, Hollidaysburg. Interment at Greenlawn cemetery, Hollidaysburg. Friends are being received at the home. Altoona Mirror, September 20, 1940
