CHESTER THOMAS BENNER 

Of 306 Baltzell Ave., died yesterday noon in the Altoona Hospital after 
a brief illness.  He was born in Altoona July 12, 1890, a son of Philip 
and Mary (Smith) Benner, and retired as an inspector at the East 
Altoona roundhouse in 1952 after 44 years of service.  Surviving are 
his wife, Mrs. Ethel (Fink) Benner; seven children, Chester H. of 
Bellwood, John L. of Harrisburg, Philip and James P. of Toledo, Ohio, 
Arthur C. and Mrs. Jane Russo of Altoona, and Mrs. Isabelle Logan of 
Mifflin; 11 grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, Clarence of 
Altoona, Earl and Mrs. Lottie Carles of Pinecroft and Mrs. Vera 
Fitzgerald of Harrisburg.  He was a member of the Salem Evangelical and 
Reformed Church.  Friends will be received at the Mauk & Yates Funeral 
Home, Juniata, after 6 p.m. today.
