(BENNETT), 1972 Mrs. Catherine (YOUNG) BENNETT Altoona Tribune Thursday, July 12, 1923 page 12 Mrs. Catherine Bennett died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. William Albright, of 2407 Fifth avenue, yesterday morning. She was born in this city in 1859, a daughter of the late Samuel Young. She was united in marriage with John W. Bennett who died in April of this year. Surviving are two sons: David H. and Charles W., both of this city, and four sisters and two half brothers, Mrs. Samuel Young, Mrs. Anna Settlemyer, Mrs. Sophia Frederick, Mrs. Clara Croyle, Samuel and Eminger Croyle, also survive. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance. Funeral services will be held from the home at 2407 Fifth avenue at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in charge of Rev. Milburn. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery. ________ Charles W. BENNETT November 5, 1956 Of 724 Third avenue, Juniata, died at 8.15 o'clock this morning in Mercy Hospital where he was admitted on Saturday afternoon after an extended illness. He was born in Altoona may 1, 1883, a son of John and Kathryn (Young) Bennett. His wife, the former Catherine Stephens, died June 1, 1946. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Marie Shingle of Juniata, Mrs. Catherine Evans, Mrs. Alleta McConnell, Mrs. Arlene Fisher, Mrs. Dorothy Albright, Mrs. Hazel Lysinger and Charles, Jr. all of the city, and a step-son, Donald Livingstone of Chicago; 33 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Bennett attended the Buckhorn chapel and was a retired pipefitter of the car shop. Friends will be received at the Axe funeral home after 7 o'clock tomorrow evening. ________ David Herman BENNETT Altoona Mirror February 27, 1941 Of the Frankstown road, an electric welder in the Twelfth street shops, died at his home at 9.15 o'clock yesterday morning after a week's illness. He was born on Dec. 21, 1880, a son of John and Catherine (Young) Bennett, and had been employed for twenty years in the Altoona works. His first wife died in 1928 and he married again on April 4, 1931. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma (Brubaker) Shoenfelt Bennett; two sons, Paul W. of Chicago and David E. of Tyrone; two grandchildren and one brother, Charles Bennett of the city. Mr. Bennett was a member of the First Baptist Church. Services in Gilden Funeral Home by Rev. Glenn Norris. Interment in the Bennett Mausoleum at the Rose Hill cemetery. ________ Eldon Westley BENNETT July 30, 1914 Deaths of children Eldon Westley, son of Charles and Lottie, deceased, Bennett, died at 11.30 o'clock last evening of convulsions at the residence of the grandparents, 2913 Eighth avenue. Born Sept. 29, 1913. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock followed by interment in Rose Hill cemetery. ________ John Westley BENNETT Altoona Tribune Wednesday, April 11, 1923 Page 15 John Westley Bennett, of 2607 Ninth avenue, died at the Altoona Hospital at 8.25 o'clock Monday evening of a complication of diseases after an illness of two weeks duration. He was born at Duncannon, Pa., August 12, 1857, and had resided in this city for many years, being employed as a cement worker. He is survived by his wife Katie H. Bennett, two sons: Charles and David H., both of this city, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Stiffler, Mrs. Rebecca Pheasant, Mrs. Sadie Megal and Scott Bennett together with six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services at the home at 2.30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon with interment to follow in Rose Hill cemetery. ________ Mrs. Lottie BENNETT Altoona Mirror November 20, 1913 Wife of Charles W. Bennett, died at 7.40 o'clock last evening of anemia, aged 29 years at her home, 9310 Fifth avenue, South Altoona. She was a member of Christian Alliance church. Surviving are her husband and three children: Dorothy, Hazel and Sheldon; her parents, Albert and Elizabeth Caswell and these brothers and sisters: Fred, George, Sheldon, Stella, and Ethel, all of this city. The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon, at the home. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery. ________ Mrs. Mary C. BENNETT [d. June 1, 1946] Of 840 Seventeenth street, died at her home Saturday evening after an extended illness. She was born on Apr. 5, 1889, in Ashville, the daughter of Louis and Mary (Wills) Stevens. Surviving are her husband, Charles W. Bennett, four daughters, Mrs. Catherine Evans of Florida, Mrs. Marie Shingle of Juniata, Mrs. Aletta Dorman and Arlene Bennett at home; two sons Donald of Pittsburgh, Charles, Jr., at home, five grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Stella Trout; two step-daughters, Mrs. Hazel Lysinger and Mrs. Dorothy Albright of Altoona. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance church. Friends will be received at the Axe funeral home. LYSINGER Altoona Mirror April 13, 1972 Of 715 1st Ave., died at 10:21 p.m. yesterday, April 12, 1972, in Altoona Hospital, where she was admitted April 4, after an extended illness. She was born in Altoona Nov. 6, 1906, the daughter of Charles W. and Lottie (Caswell) Bennett, and on Oct. 25, 1923, married Alfred R. Lysinger, who died July 22, 1955. Surviving are 10 children, Mrs. Ethel McCaulley, Mrs. Amber Loucks, Mrs. Ellen M. Laughlin, David W. and Alfred W. of Altoona, Lawrence L. of Tucson, Ariz., Capt. Ruth M. of Valley Stream, N.Y., Mrs. Shirley D. Brown of Virginia Beach, VA, Harold D. of Norfolk, VA, and Ronald E., at home; 16 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and five brothers and sisters, Mrs. Catherine Evans, Mrs. Arlene Fisher and Charles Bennett of Altoona, Mrs. Aletta McConnell of Monroeville and Donald Livingston of Chicago, Ill. Friends will be received in the Mauk Yates Funeral Home, Juniata, from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow and after 10 a.m. Saturday.
