Benton, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William Shildt of Blair avenue yesterday morning of heart trouble. He was a son of the late Johnathan and Sarah Benton, and was born March 5, 1837 at Springfield Furnace, and had been a resident of this place for 40 years. He was married first to Susanna Hartle, who died in 1860. His second wife was Susanna Weyandt, who passed away in 1901. Deceased served in the Civil war first in Company A 94th regiment, Pennsylvania volunteers and later in Company "B," Veteran reserves and fought throughout the entire campaign, in most of the important battles. He belonged to Post No. 172, G.A.R. and the Methodist Episcopal church. Funeral services in charge of Rev. A. S. Fasnick of the First Methodist Episcopal church of this place will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2.00 o'clock. Interment will be made at Birmingham.
