EARL B. BENZ

Mr. Benz, 72, of 970 27th St. died at 2:35 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 1994, at 
Mercy Regional Health System, following a lengthy illness.  Mr. Benz retired 
from the housekeeping department of Mercy Hospital in 1981, after 15 years' 
service.  He was born Oct. 23, 1921, in Altoona, the son of Christopher and 
Malinda (Hisler) Benz.  He married Betty M. Hitchings on Feb. 2, 1940, in 
Wheeling, W. Va.  Surviving are his wife, four children: Shirley Parkman of 
Greenwood, S.C., Earl W. and Linda Rhodes of Altoona and Darrell E. of 
Duncansville; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.  Also surviving 
are two sisters: Helen Dimond and Gladys McNamara of Altoona.  Mr. Benz was 
a member of Altoona Bible Church.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  
Friends will be received from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Good's Funeral Parlor, 
Altoona.
