D. Beyer, A. W. Beyer, Miss Kate Beyer, Mrs. Sarah Bain and Mrs. Edward Waring, of this place, and Mrs. G. W. Kessler, Mrs. Martha A. Dysart and Wm. M. Beyer, of Altoona, on Friday afternoon last passed to the other and high life at the age of 75 years, 6 months, and 11 days, just two years to the day, after his wife. The parents of deceased came to this section from the State of Maryland, in the latter part of the last century, settling in Sinking Valley, where Aaron' s father built a grist mill, and in 1833 the family removed to Logan Valley where another mill was built, this second mill standing on the site now occupied by the Fouss mill. Aaron Beyer was born while the family resided in Sinking Valley, in the house now occupied by Philip Bridenbaugh. He was married in the same house, to Miss Lydia Ramey, and thirteen children blessed their union. In addition to those already named, Rev. James S., is a minister of the M. E. church, at present stationed at Weatherly, Pa., All the rest are dead. Deceased was a member of the Methodist church for nearly fifty years, and in that time filled many different offices in the organization, rendering efficient service in whatever position he was placed. His children, following his example, have without an exception identified themselves with the same household of faith. Mr. Beyer, as was his father, was a miller by trade, and followed that occupation for many years of his life, but had in his lifetime engaged in other pursuits, such as lumbering, merchandising, &c. After a long and honorable business career, he settled in Tyrone, making his home with his daughter on Logan street and it was here the summons came to him to go to the home across the shining river. The funeral took place Tuesday morning, the services being held in the M. E. church at 10 o'clock. On account of the high Christian character of the deceased and the nature of his position in the church - he being a licensed local preacher - a large concourse of people were drawn together to pay the last sad tribute to his memory. Among those present and taking part in the religious services were Rev. George Guyer and Rev. J. H. Mathers who had been his friends in life and made eloquent mention of their high esteem for him in death. Also Revs. Penepacker, Leidy, Meminger, Forgeus and Dr. Moore. After the services at the church were concluded, the body was taken to the graveyard at the old Mount Zion church site near the Fuoss mill above Grazierville, where the interment took place. Thus another consistent life of use has ended for time and commenced for eternity. His battles are fought, his defeats and trials forgotten and even out of the grave can be seen in spirit the palm of victory awarded to those who stand faithful unto death. _____ Contributor's Note: says that Aaron Beyer's date of death is March 4, 1887 and others say April 22 1885. All seem to agree that he was born August 23, 1811. His obit says that he was 75 years, 6 months, and 11 days old at death - which would but his death date at March 4, 1887.
