Harry Black, one of Greenfield township's best known citizens, died at his home, three miles west of Claysburg, at 8 o'clock Friday evening after a long illness of tuberculosis, aged 40 years. For many years Mr. Black followed the occupation of huckster, gathering his load of farm and dairy products in northern Bedford and southern Blair counties, selling the same in the markets in Altoona. He was obliged to retire from active work two or more years ago on account of impaired health. Deceased was twice married, first to Miss Walter, now deceased, and after her death to Miss Lingenfelter, who survives. Four children to the second union survive him. He is also survived by one brother, Reuben Black, of Sarah Furnace, and two sisters, Mrs. Clayton Walter of Claysburg, and another sister residing in Altoona. He was a son of Samuel Black, who was killed in a flouring mill in Bedford county in 1881. He was a member of the Lutheran church and the Claysburg lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. The funeral services were conducted in the Claysburg Lutheran church on Monday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment in the adjoining cemetery. Martinsburg Herald, January 24, 1913
