At 11 o'clock Sunday night Mrs. Joanna Black, wife of William A. Black, died, after a lingering illness, at the residence of her husband, No. 1006 Eighth avenue. The deceased was formerly a resident of Water Street, Huntingdon county, but had resided here for some time. To mourn their loss she leaves her husband, one daughter (the wife of A. E. Sarvis, of this city), one sister, and her aged mother. She was a member of the Second Lutheran church, and having lived a devoted Christian life, being a kind and affectionate wife and mother, she died with the blessed hope of spending her eternity in that everlasting habitation of Him who doeth all things well. The body will be taken to Water Street for burial. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Thursday, January 10, 1889, page 7
