BLACK Of 549 Fifty-seventh street, died at 12.10 o'clock this morning at Mercy hospital where he was admitted at noon yesterday after a brief illness. He was born near Claysburg, a son of Jerry and Ellen (Musselman) Black, but had resided in Altoona for the past twenty-five years, being employed in the Fourth street blacksmith shop of the Altoona works as a clerk. As a young man he had taught school in Blair county for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle (Cable) Black, and the following brothers and sisters: John W., Chance L., Charles O. and Chester R., all of Claysburg, Mrs. John Boyer of Chambersburg, Amos G. of Queen, Mrs. Martha Weyant of Sproul and Ray M. Black of Altoona. Mr. Black was a member of the Claysburg Lutheran church and Odd Fellows and of Camp No. 31, P.O.S. of A. Black of 549 Fifty-seventh street will be held Sunday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock at the home, in charge of Rev. Lester J. Karshner, Newry Lutheran church, assisted by Rev. Ralph Birk, Trinity Lutheran church. Interment in Lutheran cemetery, Claysburg.
