A correspondent at Mines writes: Death has again visited our community and taken from our midst John Blight, who had been in failing health for some time past, but who was able to go about until a few days ago. He took his bed on the 4th of March and on the following day breathed his last. He had resided at Mines for about nineteen years and was employed as a boss at the Cambria Iron company's mines during his entire residence here. He was a kind neighbor and friend. He leaves to mourn the loss of a loving husband and father a wife and two children, Samuel whose home is at Johnstown, and Nettie, who lives at home. His age we did not learn. The funeral will take place from his late residence at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Morning Tribune, Altoona, PA, Saturday, March 7, 1891 WILLIAMSBURG WAIFS. John Stephen Blight, whose death has been noted in the TRIBUNE, was born October 13, 1816, in Pergance, Cornwall, England. He came to America in April, 1848, went to California and worked at gold mining for some time; then went to Northern Michigan to the copper ore field; from there to Eastern Pennsylvania where he was engaged in superintending the mining of iron ore; then to Orbisonia, Huntingdon county, mining iron ore for a short time. In March 1872, he came to Springfield Mines, engaged as mine boss, which position he held for three years, when S. B. Isenberg was appointed superintendent of mines. Mr. Blight then became master miner, which position he filled until one year ago, when his health gave way. He had been living a retired and quiet life up to the day of his death - March 5, 1891 - aged 74 years, 4 months and 17 days. Mr. Blight was an unassuming man, well read, being a constant reader, and he was a good citizen, always attending to his own affairs and never meddling in what did not concern him. He leaves many friends. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, March 10, 1891 1880 Huston Township, Blair County census - John S. Blight, 55, England, Boss Miner Annie E. Blight, 45 Samuel S.
