Bloom, age 89, of Epworth Manor and formerly of 549 Oak Street, Tyrone, died Thursday, March 15, 2007 at the Altoona Regional Health Systems, Altoona Hospital Campus. He was born February 11, 1918 in Jordan Township, Clearfield County, the son of Christopher M. and Mary Ann (Annie) McNeel Bloom. On January 1, 1941 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church Rectory he was married by the Reverend Father John O'Toole to Blanche Elizabeth Giuliani who preceded him in death January 17, 1961. On September 28, 1962 at the Warriors Mark United Methodist Church, he was married by Reverend Daniel F. Koon to Grace Elizabeth Harpster (Barley) who survives. Also surviving are four daughters: Carol A., wife of John P. Jones of Guys Mills, PA, Constance K., wife of Paul G. Kaiser of Chambersburg, PA, Crystal A., wife of Charles R. Diehl and Charlene A. Holzer, both of Tyrone. Also surviving are four stepchildren: Norine Mumbray of Houston, PA, Jesse E. (Cristi) Barley, Claudia Keith and Viola, wife of Edward Dysart all of Tyrone; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Kelly Ann Getz, a great grandson Samuel Allen, and two brothers, Clifford and Dayton Bloom and was the last of his immediate family. Mr. Bloom was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd and a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1936. He was a self-employed building and painting contractor, retiring after more than 60 years of service in the Tyrone area. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a carpenter's mate 2/C with P.T. Boat action mostly in the Pacific area. He had a long association with the Tyrone YMCA serving for 25 years on the board of directors and five years as president. He was a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Tyrone with 35 years of perfect attendance and over 47 years of membership. He was a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Foundation. He and his wife have traveled extensively having set foot on every continent of the world. As a member of the Class of 1936 he served as president, vice president or co-president of the Alumna Association for over 40 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Funeral service for Ronald F. Bloom will be Monday, March 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Private interment will be in Fruit Hill Cemetery, Mill Port RD. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. where a Rotary service will be held Sunday evening.
