HENRY BONSELL

Well Known Retired Engineer Died This Afternoon
 
  Death this afternoon called away Henry Bonsell, well known retired 
Pennsylvania railroad engineer.  Mr. Bonsell had not been in good 
health for some time.  About ten days ago he suffered a stroke of 
paralysis, gradually growing weaker until he fell asleep at twelve-
twenty o'clock this afternoon.  
  Henry Bonsell was born at Huntingdon Furnace, February 14, 1860, the 
son of the late John and Anna Eisinger Bonsell.  He was married on 
March 18, 1922, to Mrs. Anna B. Geyer, of Huntingdon, who survives.  He 
was married twice before, first to Miss Mellie Love, and to this union 
two children survive, Ralph L. of Tyrone, and Mrs. Pearl C. Roub, of 
Cleveland. Ohio.  His second marriage was with Miss Laura Wolford; from 
that union, these children survive:  Mrs. L. L. Campbell, of Juniata; 
Mrs. John N. Koener, Tyrone; Henry O. Bonsell, of Cleveland, O.; Mrs. 
Wallace Myers, of Altoona and Charles A. Bonsell, of Lewistown.  
Thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and these brothers and 
sisters also survive: George W. Bonsell, Tyrone; John P. Bonsell,
Spruce Creek and Miss Anna Bonsell, of Hollidaysburg.
 Mr. Bonsell railroaded for half century.  For many years he
served in the capacity of an engineer and no man ever handled a 
throttle on one of those big iron horses, that took better care of his 
engine than Henry Bonsell. He took much pride in keeping it spotless 
and a number of occasions received complimentary letters from high 
officials of the company for his work.  He was retired in 1925.  
  He was also a great sportsman.  No man enjoyed fishing more than 
Henry Bonsell and he gave of his time and means in helping to stock 
streams and care for them during the early days.  
  He was a member of the First Presbyterian church, W. F. Minary's 
Bible class for men; the Junior Order United American Mechanics and the 
Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.  In all of these he was active and 
took much interest in the work carried on by these organizations. 
  Funeral services will be conducted at the Bonsell home 215 1/2 
twelfth Street Sunday afternoon.  Interment in Eastlawn Cemetery.
