Mr. Bonsell had worked all day on Tuesday as conductor of the shifter in the Tyrone yards, Middle Division, P.R.R. After eating his supper, he with Mrs. Bonsell spent the evening very pleasantly at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Michael J. Wike on Logan Avenue, the party breaking up about 10:30 p.m. Enroute home, Mr. Bonsell felt ill in his stomach. After arriving home, Mr. Bonsell attended to several chores, when he became violently ill. A physician was summoned and gave temporary relief, but a second severe attack caused his demise. Neuralgia of the heart was given as the cause of death. Leonard Ehman Bonsell was a son of the late John and Anna (Zeilinger) Bonsell. He was born on the old Bonsell farm homestead near Spruce Creek, Pa., on May 5, 1865; and had he lived, he would have celebrated his sixty- first birthday today. His young manhood days were spent on the farm and at Spruce Creek he gained a good common school education. On May 5th, 1865, he was united in marriage with Miss Margaret Love at Alexandria who with these sons and daughters survive to mourn the passing of a loving and devoted husband and father: Mrs. Victor [Maude] Wike, Mrs. Robert J. [Nellie] Kingston, Chester C., Sidney C., Robert L., Luther C.& Arthur C. [Twins], all of Tyrone, and Clyde A. Bonsell of Pitcairn, Allegheny County, Pa. Also surviving, are three brothers and a sister: Henry and George Bonsell of Tyrone, John Phillip Bonsell and Miss Annie Bonsell of Spruce Creek. An infant brother and a sister preceded him in death. Leonard Bonsell entered the Pennsylvania Railroad service on March 1, 1888 as a laborer on the work train at Spruce Creek. On march 15, 1896 he was appointed a flagman; February 17, 1900, the work train conductor. On January 17, 1921, he was promoted to yard engine conductor. His service with the company was excellent and he was faithful in every performance of his duty. Mr. Bonsell attended the Lutheran church. He was a member of Good Will Council No. 42 Junior Order United American Mechanics and Order 51 of Railroad Conductors. He was a man much respected among men and had a host of friends who sympathize with his bereaved family. Funeral service will be held at the home, 1412 Blair Avenue, Tyrone, Pa., Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Reverend Robert J. Allen, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Internment will be made in Eastlawn Cemetery, Tyrone, Pa. The body may be viewed after seven o'clock, Thursday evening. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/pafiles/
