Mrs. Christina Bookhamer, Springfield Mines, Pa. On Monday, October 8th, Mrs. Christina Bookhamer, mother of our townsman, closed a long and interesting life, at the Mines, aged about 94 years. Her husband, Jacob Bookhamer, preceded her, having died in 1850. Mother Bookhamer's maiden name was Shelow, and she was born in the neighborhood of Petersburg, Huntingdon county, Pa., about the year 1794. She was the mother of 11 children, 7 of whom are living, 4 sons and 3 daughters. She also leaves behind 67 grandchildren, 21 great-grand-children and 1 great-great- grand child. On Wednesday, all that was mortal of Mrs. Bookhamer, was laid to rest, peacefully, in the family lot of her son, James Bookhamer, in Fairview Cemetery, in this place. Rev. Colburn, of Williamsburg, of the M. E. church, of which the deceased was a member for many years, performed the religious services on this sad occasion. Thus, one by one our old fathers and mother, who had been born and lived in a century that is past, are joining the great majority, in that land from whence none has ever returned.
