Bottenberg, formerly of Altoona, where he was employed in the office of Master Mechanic Strattan, died at Roanoke, Va., on Thursday morning. The deceased had a large circle of friends in this city, who will be pained to learn of his decease. The remains will arrive in this city this afternoon and will be taken to the residence of Mr. P. M. Johnson, No. 921 Eighth avenue. The funeral notice will appear in Saturday morning's Tribune. Morning Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Friday, October 24, 1890 The Late Harry W. Bottenberg. The remains of Harry W. Bottenberg were brought to this city yesterday afternoon from Roanoke, Va. Subjoined is a brief sketch of his life: He was born in Altoona on March 8, 1862, and was the son of William and Mary Bottemberg, deceased. His age was 28 years, 7 months and 14 days, and his death occurred at Roanoke on Thursday morning, he having been ill but a short time from brain fever. He had been employed in the office of Master Mechanic Strattan from the time he was 16 years of age until the latter part of January of the present year, when he was appointed to the position of storekeeper under Superintendent S. E. Haupt, of the Roanoke machine shops. On accepting the position he removed with his family to Roanoke on the 1st of February. As a husband and father he was loving and affectionate; as a citizen he was most exemplary; as a clerk he was efficient, helping and ambitious, and as a Christian he was a pillar in the church of his faith - The First United Brethren of this city. He leaves to mourn his early death his wife and two children and also one sister. The funeral cortege will leave the residence of P. M. Johnson, 921 Eighth avenue, on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, to proceed to the First United Brethren church, where services will be held, conducted by Rev. J. N. Munden, assisted by Rev. T. P. Orner, of the Second United Brethren church. Interment in Fairview cemetery.
