BOWEN For many years a well known resident of Altoona, died suddenly last night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. George Shultzabarger of Conemaugh, Pa., following a stroke of paralysis. He had been apparently in the best of health, and the news of his death came as a shock to his other daughter, Mrs. Ethel Hyle of 327 Howard avenue, Altoona, when she received the telegram this morning telling of her father's death. She left immediately for Conemaugh. He was born in Indiana county in 1857, but spent nearly all his life in this city. For many years he was employed by the G. W. Casanave harness company as a sadler. He is survived by three daughters, his wife, Prudence (Hartman) Bowen, having preceded him to the grave seventeen years ago. They are: Mrs. Ethel Hyle of this city, Mrs. John Strong of Tyrone and Mrs. George Shultzabarger of Conemaugh. The body will be brought here for interment, and funeral arrangements will be announced later. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Monday, May 17, 1920 BOWEN - The funeral of John W. Bowen, former resident, who died at Conemaugh on Sunday, will be held in Altoona tomorrow, with services in the Grace Methodist church at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will follow in Fairview cemetery.
