Bower, one of Altoona's oldest and most respected residents, died at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin M. Amies, 1222 Thirteenth avenue, on Saturday evening at 5.30 o'clock. She was born at Maytown, Lancaster county on Nov. 11, 1824, having celebrated her ninety-fourth birthday anniversary on the eleventh of last November. Her maiden name was Anna S. Welshans and she was married to Jacob Bower on Feb. 22, 1843, who died twenty-two years ago, since which time she has made her home with her son-in-law and daughter in this city. She is survived by the following daughters: Mrs. Emma W. Owen of Camden, N.J.; Mrs. Sarah B. Cunningham of Philadelphia, Mrs. A. H. Slayman, Mrs. E. M. Amies and Mrs. Margaret Bishop of this city, and by one son, H. F. Bower of Minneapolis, Minn. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and four great grand- children. She has been a consistent member of the Reformed church, having been a member since 1838. After removing to this city she transferred her membership to the Christ Reformed church, where she was a regular attendant as long as her health permitted. The funeral will be held from the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. M. Amies of 1222 Thirteenth avenue on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock, followed by private interment.
