Bowers, a former resident of this city, died Thursday morning at his home near Atkinson's Mills, Mifflin county, of diseases incident to old age, he being over 75 years old. Deceased was a native of Mifflin county, but resided in Altoona for a number of years. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served three years as a private in Company E, Second battalion, Fifteenth regiment, United States infantry. He was a member of the Methodist church for fifty years. Surviving are these children: E. J. and Mrs. C. Lukens, of Altoona; J. Leidy, of Salisbury, Md., and Misses Bessie and Elsie, at home. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 10 o'clock, interment to follow at Atkinson's Mills. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Saturday morning, March 3, 1917
