Bowers, aged 62, prominent Martinsburg business man and civic leader, died at 2.55 o'clock yesterday morning in the Nason hospital, Roaring Spring. He had conducted a plumbing business in Martinsburg for twenty-five years, being joined by his son, Elvin, in 1929. Mr. Bowers was a former member of the borough council and had served on the water commission for sixteen years. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran church and of Mountain lodge, No. 281, F. & A.M. Mr. Bowers for many years was an active leader in the Martinsburg Boosters association. He was born in Martinsburg on July 5, 1879, a son of Levi and Louisa (Feathers) Bowers, and married Miss Mary Gertrude Detwiler on March 31, 1904. Surviving are his wife, two daughters and one son, Mrs. Grace Detwiler and Elvin Bowers of Martinsburg and Mrs. Mary Replogle of Roaring Spring; two grandchildren, two sisters and one brother, Miss Anna L. Bowers of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. C. Ross Felton of Altoona and Ross E. Bowers of Cortland, N.Y. Friends are being received at the home. BOWERS - Funeral services for Harvey R. Bowers will be conducted in the home in Martinsburg Tuesday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock in charge of Rev. D. L. Shaffer of St. Matthew Lutheran church.
