Mr. Boyden died on Thursday morning at the residence of Mrs. Ringle, at Derry. He was 73 years old. A native of England he came to America when he was 16 years old, learning the trades of miller, millwright and patternmaker at Paterson, N.J. In Reading he carried on business for himself, afterwards removing to Harrisburg and from there to Altoona. He built a residence at the corner of Fifteenth street and Eighth avenue, and a year later erected a flour mill on the same property. About 1864 he retired from the railroad shops and devoted his whole time to managing his mill. During this time he was active in everything promoting the interests of the city. He was one of the original organizers of the Altoona City band, was a member of the Good Will fire company, served a term in town council and was connected with the local Masonic and Knights Templar lodges. Twelve years ago he took up his residence in Baltimore, and had since made that city his home, not being engaged in any business. While living in Reading he married Miss Rosanna Devlin, of that place. Their children still living are William A. Boyden, of New York city, and J. Augustus Boyden, of this city. A daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Peterson, died a few years ago. After the death of his wife, thirty-eight years ago, he married Mrs. Keagy, of Harrisburg, who, with three children, Frank, George Albert and Margarite, survive him. Last fall Mr. and Mrs. Boyden went to visit Mrs. Ringle, who is a daughter of the latter, and soon after their arrival Mr. Boyden was stricken with paralysis, which was the cause of his death.
