Falling down a flight of stairs at noon on Saturday, Mrs. Susan Brallier, within two months of being an octogenarian, sustained a concussion of the brain and an hour later expired in the home of the daughter with whom she resided, Mrs. W. K. Kauffman, 505 Fifth avenue, Juniata. The aged lady, who was the mother of Jesse C. Brallier, Superintendent of mails in the Altoona postoffice, had just stepped from her room and was descending to the family dining room in the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Kauffman when she fell, and members of the family who rushed to the stairway found her unconscious on the lower landing. She did not regain consciousness. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Orner, both deceased, and was a native of Adams County. She was born on March 27, 1835, and would have been 80 years of age in March of this year had she lived. She was the last surviving member of her generation in the Brallier and Orner families. Reared to mature years in her father's household as it was at different times located in Adams, Indiana, and Cambria counties she became the wife of Daniel S. Brallier, a pastor of the Church of the Brethren, who died a year ago. Seven children survive. Tribune, Johnstown, Pa., Monday, February 1, 1915, p. 10 [Daniel S. Brallier actually died 7 December 1905 - ed.]
