BRANDT Well known Hollidaysburg citizen and employe of the Pennsylvania railroad in Altoona, died at 7.17 o'clock last night at the Punxsutawney hospital, death being attributed to paralysis. Mr. Brandt, accompanied by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Hartman Brandt, and his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stoner, motored on Sunday to the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Downey at Punxsutawney to spend the day. During the noon meal Sunday, Mr. Brandt left the table and started down a flight of stairs but before he reached the bottom suffered a stroke and fell. He was taken at once to the hospital where it was revealed he had been stricken with paralysis and he remained in an unconscious condition until last night when he died. Mr. Brandt had been in his usual state of good health prior to being fatally stricken. Deceased was a son of George W. and Sarah Brandt, both deceased, and was born in Hollidaysburg on Jan. 25, 1865. He was married in August, 1897, to Myrtle Green, who preceded him to the grave. To this union the following children survive: Naomi, wife of Albert Stoner of Hollidaysburg; Miriam, wife of R. C. Buchanan of Altoona; Hartman, Wade and Mildred Brand Lindsey of Hollidaysburg. He also leaves the following sisters: Mrs. H. Reffner. Mrs. John Blackstone and Miss Alma Brandt, all of Hollidaysburg, and Mrs. Ada Kurtz of Altoona. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran church, Hollidaysburg. He was employed by the Pennsylvania railroad as a machinist for more than thirty years. The body has been removed to the home of the daughter, Mrs. Albert Stoner, 141 Bedford street, Hollidaysburg, where funeral services will be conducted at 2.30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in charge of Rev. J. S. Seebach of Philadelphia and Rev. M. Stanley Kemp of Hollidaysburg. Altoona Mirror, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday, November 3, 1931
