Briggs, age 85, died January 27, 2003. He was born January 14, 1918 in Tyrone, to the late John M. and Ruth Hulda (McFarland) Briggs. He served in the US Army in the 55th Coast Artillery at Fort Roger, Honolulu, Hawaii, and was discharged in 1936. He moved to South Lyon, Mi., in 1941. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of South Lyon, Mi. He worked for the South Lyon Community Schools for 30 years until the age of 80. Mr. Briggs was a missionary in Venezuela for four years. He is survived by his sons, Jack Briggs of Garden City, Mi., Richard Briggs of South Lyon, Mi., and one daughter Doris Risdon of Manistique, Mi., and his brother, Robert Briggs of South Lyon, Mi., one sister Florence Dixon of California. He is also survived by 10 children, 14 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel May (Lyons) Briggs in 1992. Funeral services were held today at the First Baptist Church in South Lyon, Mi. with Rev. Robert A. Beddingfield officiating. Memorial contributions in honor of Mr. Briggs may be made to K. B.
