BROWELL Arthur C. Browell, of Riddlesburg, died in Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia, October 27, 1938. He was the son of George Browell and Dorothy (Bambling) Browell and was born in Oakdale, November 13, 1886; age 51 years, 11 months, 14 days. He was married to Louanna Himes, October 11, 1909. He was survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs Guy Spangler, Somerset; Jennings Browell and Mrs. Jerry Kay, Riddlesburg; Mrs. Jessie Adams, Dudley; Lenora Lou Browell and Kenwood Browell at home. Three brothers, Rev. R. P. Browell, Hollywood, Cal.; George W. Browell, Hopewell; Joseph H. Browell, Turtle Creek; and one sister Mrs. Robert Helsel, of Langdondale, also survive. Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church at Hopewell Sunday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. Norman S. Greenawalt, officiating. Interment in the Hopewell Cemetery. He was a member of the Hopewell Reformed Church. clipping ARTHUR C. BROWELL For many years a resident of Hopewell, but since spring a resident of Riddlesburg, died at 1 o'clock Thursday morning in Jefferson hospital, Philadelphia, after having been ill for the past year. He was born in Oakdale on Nov. 13, 1886, a son of George and Dorothy Browell, and on Oct. 11, 1909, married Miss Lou Anna Himes. For the past four years he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Rail Road company. Surviving are his wife, six sons and daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Spangler of Somerset, Mrs. Grace Adams of Dudley, Jennings Browell and Mrs. Naomi Kay of Riddlesburg, Lanora and Kenwood, at home; one sister and three brothers; Rev. Robert P. Browell of Hollywood, Calif., George W. of Palm Springs, Calif., James H. of Turtle Creek and Mrs. Robert Helsel of Langdondale. Altoona Mirror, October 27, 1938 ________ GEORGE BROWELL, JR. George Browell, Jr., 71, Hopewell RD 1, died Thursday, July 2, 1998, at Pennknoll Village, Everett. He was born Jan 18, 1927, in Hopewell Township, the son of the late George and Etta (Himes) Browell. He married Doris Redinger Sept. 13, 1947, in Cumberland, Md. Mr. Browell had been employed by Interchange Parts of Everett. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. Surviving are three sons: George III of New Enterprise, Timothy of Everett RD2 and K. Zan of Bedford RD6; Four sisters: Louise Eshelman of New Enterprise, Margaret of Hopewell RD, Gloria Fluke of Hopewell Rd, and Joan Harclerode of Everett RD. Mr. Browell was preceded in death by an infant daughter. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a. m. Monday at the Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Everett. BROWELL - Services for George Browell, Jr., of Hopewell RD 1 will be held 11 a. m. Monday in the funeral chapel by Brother Sam Spire. Interment at Hopewell Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a. m. Monday at the Dalla Valle Funeral Service, Main Street, Everett. ________ MRS. MARGARET (BROWELL) HELSEL Wife of Robert A. Helsel of Langdondale, Bedford county, died at the J. C. Blair Memorial hospital, Huntingdon, last evening after a short illness. She was born at Hopewell a daughter of George and Dorothy Browell. She is survived by her husband and the following children, Mrs. Ruth Neade, Mrs. Eleanor Hogan of Baltimore, Robert, James, Arthur and Earle of Hopewell and Harold of Chambersburg. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Altoona Mirror, December 27, 1952 ________ MRS. MINNIE (BROWELL) HELSEL Widow of James E. Helsel, died at her home at 719 Third avenue, Duncansville, at 5:30 p. m. Sunday. Her death was attributed to a complication of ailments, after a lengthy illness, and she was bedfast for the past five weeks. She was born on Oct. 30, 1874, in Luzerne county, and was a daughter of George and Dorothy Bambling Browell. On March 17, 1895, she was united in marriage with James E. Helsel, who predeceased her on Dec. 29, 1926. She had been a resident of Blair County for the past twenty-three years and prior to that resided in Bedford County. She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ethel M. Imler, George H. Helsel, Mrs. Minnie V. Hoover, Clarence C. Helsel and Mrs. Thelma E. Simmers, all of Duncansville; Roy J. Helsel of Altoona and Mrs. Edith M. Clapper, Ellsworth L., Edward and Dorothy M. Helsel, all at home; also fourteen grandchildren and the following brothers and one sister: Rev. Robert P. Browell of Vandergrift, George Browell of Palm Springs, Calif., James H. Browell of Turtle Creek, Arthur C. Browell of Hopewell and Mrs. Margaret Helsel of Langdondale. She was a member of the Hicks Memorial Methodist church at Duncansville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10.30 o'clock Wednesday morning at the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren, in charge of her pastor, Rev. L. D.
