BROWN A telegram was received here this morning announcing the death at Fort Wayne, Ind., of John E. Brown, the oldest son of Mr. And Mrs. Joseph T. Brown, of 1611 Eighth avenue, this city. His serious illness had already been noted in these columns. His parents were summoned to his bedside last week and were with him when he died. The deceased was born in this city, May 27, 1861. When quite young he entered the motive power railroad office in this city and became a skillful clerk and stenographer. Fourteen years ago he was promoted to be stenographer to Superintendent of Motive Power Wood at Fort Wayne, Indiana, and later became chief clerk to Superintendent of Motive Power Potter in the same city. His constitution was frail from childhood and close application to his work further weakened him, so that for the last three or four years he was at times an invalid. Latterly he suffered from general debility and this was the cause of his death. John E. Brown was a most excellent young gentleman and his many Altoona friends and acquaintances will be pained to learn of his untimely death. He was talented, industrious and prudent and had a prosperous career before him had his life been spared. He leaves a young wife but no children. Besides his parents he is survived by four brothers and one sister, viz.: Harry, William, Edward, George and Miss Margaret Brown. To his parents to whom he was a most dutiful and devoted son and to his wife, his loss is a severe one. His remains will be brought to this city Thursday morning. Funeral announcement will be made tomorrow. clipping dated July 2, 1895
