ALICE BROWN Mrs. Alice Guyer Brown, of Woodbury, widow of the late Atlee Brown, died at the Bedford county home Wednesday, March 16, at 2:30 p. m. She was born in Bedford County May 7, 1872, the daughter of Jacob S. and Amanda Feaster Guyer, and she and her husband at one time resided in Martinsburg. Surviving is one brother, George Guyer, of Brownsville. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Fourth Street Church of God, Altoona. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Lafferty funeral home, Altoona, in charge of her pastor, Rev. C. A. Byler. Interment at Potter Creek. March 24, 1949 ________ BARBARA E. BROWN Mrs. Brown, 73, of 5930 Apt. A., Evergreen Court, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 1991, at Mercy Hospital, following and extended illness. She was born Nov. 9, 1917, in Sproul, the daughter of Harry E. and Mary (Stellar) Pope, and Oct. 17, 1935, in Hollidaysburg, married Woodrow Wilson Brown, who died Nov. 2, 1965. Surviving are six children: Bonnie L. Condon, Patricia Erb, David E., Judith K. DeJaiffe and Thomas W. of Altoona and Michael L. of Penn Hills; 25 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister: Eleanor Mayes of Okeechobee, Fla. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Bread of Life Bible Chapel. She was a 1935 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. Friends will be received from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Donald E. Liebegott Funeral Home, Duncansville. Brown - Services for Barbara E. Brown of 5930 Apt. A Evergreen Court will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Donald E. Leibegott Funeral Home, Inc., Duncansville, by minister Paul Johnson. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9 a. m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation. Altoona Mirror, February 2, 1991 ________ MRS. EDITH BROWN Mrs. Edith Brown, of 705 Fourteenth street, died in the Altoona Hospital at 9 o'clock yesterday morning. She was born in Woodbury, April 19, 1891, a daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Fink, and married Lorenzo Brown, who died Feb. 23, 1953. Surviving are five sons and two daughters, Russell and Mrs. Vera Beck of Altoona, Jay of Staten Island, N. Y., Woodrow of Fort Meade, Md., Benjamin, at Fort Bragg, N. C., and Mrs. Georgia Kamp of Belmont, Ill.; four step- children, Charles Ulery of Duncansville, Irvin Brown of Hopewell, Mrs. Pearl Ferguson and Mrs. Homer Herring of Altoona; 43 grandchildren, 15 great- grandchildren, two brothers and one sister, Harry of Roaring Spring, John of Woodbury and Mrs. Myrtle Leidy of Punxsutawney. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Salvation Army corps in Altoona for several years. Friends are being received at the Mauk & Yates funeral home, Juniata. Altoona Mirror, May 7, 1956 ________ LORENZO IRVIN BROWN Patriarch of Family of 68 Dies At Home Lorenzo Irvin Brown, 81, of 226 Fifth Avenue, patriarch of a family including 11 sons and daughters, 45 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great- great-grandchildren, died unexpectedly at his home about 1 o'clock this morning after a brief illness. He was born at Potter Creek Nov. 23, 1871, a son of Jacob and Catherine (Glenn) Brown, but had resided in Juniata for many years. Mr. Brown was a member of the Lutheran church at Potter Creek. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Edith (Fink) Brown, the following children, Mrs. Pearl Ferguson and Mrs. Vera Beck of Juniata, Mrs. Ethel Herring of South Altoona, Mrs. Georgianna Kamp of Bellmont, Ill., Irvin of Hopewell, Sheridan of Roaring Spring, Jay of New York city, Russell of Pleasant valley, Wilson and Benjamin in the army, and Charles Ulery, an adopted son, of Duncansville. Two grandchildren, Betty and John Brown, also were reared in the home. The body was removed to the Mauk & Yates funeral home, Juniata. Altoona Mirror, February 23, 1953 ________ RODERICK "BUZZY" BROWN Son of Wilson and Barbara (Pope) Brown, died Thursday night at the base hospital at Fort George G. Meade, Md., following an extended illness. He was born at Hollidaysburg May 25, 1942. Surviving are his parents and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Charles Roub of Altoona, Mrs. Robert Erb of Fort Meade, David in the navy and Kay, Michael, and Thomas, at home. Friends will be received at the Liebegott funeral home, Duncansville, after 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. [d. 1-3-1957] Altoona Mirror, January 9, 1957 ________ Sheridan Brown Sheridan Brown, 52, a native of Waterside and a former resident of Roaring Spring, was found dead in his rooming house, at 402 Second Street, Juniata, yesterday. Deputy Coroner William Crawford said he had taken his own life, and had been ill since June. Mr. Brown was born April 5, 1903, the son of Lorenzo and Nevada (Detwiler) Brown, both deceased. He was married to Miss Araminta McGee of Roaring Spring, December 19, 1923. He had been employed as a machinist's helper at the Juniata Shops and had worked for the PRR 29 years. He was a member of the relief association and was on relief. He was a member of Trinity Methodist church, Roaring Spring. Funeral arrangements had not been made this morning. He leaves a widow, of Roaring Spring, and the following children, Mrs. Lois Closson, Evans City; Mrs. Mary Carolyn Dalesio of Avella, Pa.; Riley C. of Altoona; SSgt. Herbert C., at Otis Air Force base, Mass.; one grandchild and the following sisters and brothers, Mrs. Ethel Herring, Mrs. Pearl Fink, both of Altoona; Charles of Duncansville; Irvin, of near Breezewood, and several half-brothers and sisters. Morrison Cove Herald, August 18, 1955 ________ WOODROW WILSON BROWN, JR. Infant son of Woodrow W. and Edith Brown of 105 Elm street, Lakemont, died last evening at 8.15 o'clock at the home. Surviving are the parents, two brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received at the Gardner, VanAllman & Plank funeral home, Hollidaysburg. [d. Of 1303 16th St., died at 3:20 a.m. today in the Altoona Veterans Administration Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Woodbury on Oct. 15, 1913, a son of Lorenzo I. and Edith (Fink) Brown. Surviving are his wife Dorothy, and six children, Mrs. Bonnie Roub, David and Mrs. Judith Dejaiffe of the city, Mrs. Patricia Erb, Michael and Thomas of Lewisburg; Two step-daughters, Mrs. Jean Conklin of Newark, Ohio, and Mrs. Peggy Boore of Altoona; 20 grandchildren, five brothers and sisters, James R., Mrs. Vera Beck and Benjamin E. of the city, J. E. of Staten Island, NY, and Mrs. Georgie Kemp of Belmont, Ill; a half-sister and two half-brothers, Irvin Brown of Everett, Mrs. Ethel Herring of Altoona, and Charles Ulery of Duncansville.
