David Budd, arrived in Tyrone yesterday afternoon and was taken to the Graham & Getz funeral home. Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2.30 o'clock at the funeral home in charge of Rev. Dennis Smith, pastor of the Columbia Avenue Methodist church. Military rites will be conducted at Grandview cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded Pvt. Budd by members of Howard Gardner post 281, American Legion, and the Anderson-Denny post 4559, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Pvt. Budd, son of Mr. and Mrs. David W. Budd of 2112 Adams avenue, Tyrone, was killed in the North African area Oct. 8, 1943. He first enlisted in the army in January, 1941, and was honorably discharged six months later. On June 2, 1942, he again enlisted, training at Camp Edwards, Mass., and going overseas in April, 1943, to participate in the invasion of North Africa. He was an ammunition truck driver attached to the 144th infantry, 36th division. His body was recently returned to the United States from a temporary cemetery in Italy. He was born in Tyrone Dec. 17, 1915, a son of David W. and Ada (Sims) Budd. He attended the Tyrone schools and was employed in the Altoona shops at the time of his enlistment. He is survived by a son, Richard Lee Budd of New Castle; his parents, a brother, Joseph F. Budd of Tyrone, and two sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Craine of Ebensburg, and Mrs. Margie Abrams of Tyrone.
