Burchinell, a well known resident of this city, died at his residence, No. 714 Howard avenue, at 5.40 o'clock Monday morning. Although Mr. Burchinell had been in delicate health for some years, he had been at work in the lower shops until Friday last, and his death was entirely unexpected. He retired as usual on Sunday night about 10 o'clock, and the first intimation that death was so near at hand was by his cough awakening one of the children, who heard him say he was dying. The family were quickly aroused and ran to his bedside, but too late to render assistance, a hemorrhage having suddenly quenched the spark of life. Mr. Burchinell was born in Baltimore April 3, 1845, and was consequently in his 41st year. He was employed for about fourteen years as a cabinet-maker and carver in the railroad shops of this city. He was well known and respected by his shopmates and enjoyed the confidence of all his superiors. He leaves to mourn his sudden departure three young daughters, Said, Alice and Lillie, who are now left orphans, their mother having died in March, 1881. Besides these there are three sisters, Mary and Rebecca Burchinell, of New York city, and Mrs. Emma Stroup, of Spring Grove, York county, and one brother, Thomas, who resides in one of the western states. Deceased was a member of Banner council No. 17, Order United American Mechanics, of Johnstown. The members of the order in this city will have charge of his burial. In his death his children have lost a kind-hearted and indulgent father, his neighbors a genial friend, and his shopmates a worthy companion. Altoona Tribune, November 12, 1885
