Burd, living near No. 10 bridge, near Altoona, was killed early Monday afternoon while riding on a freight train which was coming west. He, with a companion named Wilcox, had boarded the train and Burd through some accident slipped between the cars as the train was passing over a culvert falling under the wheels. The remainder of the train passed over him. He was picked up in a dying condition and taken to the hospital where he was given all possible aid but medical power was of no assistance and he died shortly after.
