He was born on Oct. 1, 1902, at Tyrone, a son of the late Allen G. and Rebecca (Mayhue) Burford. On April 11, 1925, at the First Presbyterian church, Tyrone, he was united in marriage with Sarah Neff. Surviving are the wife and these children, all at home: Alice Jane, Eva Gene, Delma, Allen and Kathryn; also these sisters and brother: Mrs. Mary Markle, Mrs. Delma Burns, Mrs. Mabel Woomer, Mrs. Alice Merritts and James Vernon Burford, all of Tyrone; also a foster brother, Eugene Ferrin of Clairton. Mr. Burford was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Tyrone. For many years he was employed as a clerk by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, later establishing a business on Twentieth street, remaining there until him health failed.
