He was born on Sept. 12, 1875, at Blue Knob, a son of Louis B. and Sarah (Ritchey) Burk, and on Oct. 1, 1911, was united in marriage with Mrs. Frances (Greffmyer) Wertz. Surviving are his wife, two step-sons and one step-daughter, A.M. Wertz and C.W. Wertz, both of the city, and Mrs. J.G. Long of Millville, N.J., his mother and the following brothers and sisters: Howard Burk of Duncansville, John of Johnstown, George of East Freedom, Mrs. John Finnegan of Queen, Mrs. Charles Dodson of Claysburg and Mrs. Chester Huston of the city. Mr. Burk was a member of the Simpson Methodist church, the B. of R.T., and Red Men. For the past forty years he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad company, for a number of years as a hostler helper at East Altoona enginehouse. The body may be viewed at the Gilden funeral home where funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Interment will be made in the Claysburg cemetery.
