BURKE, One of the oldest residents of the city and widow of Rev. John Burke, who during his life was one of the most prominent ministers of the Baptist church, died this morning at 9.30, of diseases incident to old age, at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. John W. Ebert, 2003 West Chestnut avenue. The deceased was born at Airth, Scotland, August 15, 1819, and came to American soon after her marriage. She resided in the western part of Pennsylvania and at various points in Ohio, where her husband was engaged in preaching until the death of Rev. Burke in 1892, when she came to Altoona and made her home with her daughter. She is survived by the following children: John Burke, postmaster in Norman, Oklahoma; Mrs. J. W. Ebert of this city, Mrs. John Leech of Indiana, Pa., Mrs. R. D. Johnson of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Jennie Duerr, of Hubbard, O. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist church. A short funeral service will be held at the home of her daughter, on Thursday evening at 7.30. Her remains will be taken to Hubbard, O., Friday morning, where interment will be made Saturday.
