Peter Burke, of Newry, died at 9 o'clock last evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Seibert, of Duncansville. Death was due to apoplexy. He had been confined to his bed for the past six years. Deceased was born at Dry Run, Pa., July 12, 1835, and had been a farmer of this county all his life. He was married to Miss Susanna Hoover, who preceded him to the grave twelve years ago. Mr. Burke was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's church, Newry, and was a member of the Holy Name society. In politics he was a Democrat. The following sons and daughters survive: Mrs. George Rhoades and Mrs. John Seibert, of Duncansville; Mrs. Harvey Piper, of Youngtown, O.; George Burke, of Newry; William and Edward, of Altoona, and Mrs. Gertrude Delozier, of Roaring Spring. The following brothers and sisters also survive: James, of Gallitzin; John and Mary, of Carrolltown; Mrs. Liddy Ann Weakland, of DuBois, and Patrick and Mrs. David Gildea, of Hollidaysburg. The funeral will be held with requiem mass at St. Patrick's church, Newry, at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, followed by interment in the church cemetery.
