Burket, of 1503 Sixth Avenue, Victim of Heart Failure Mrs. Charlotte C. Burket, of 1503 Sixth avenue, widow of Ephraim Burket, was stricken with heart failure at the corner of Seventh avenue and Sixteenth street at 8:15 o'clock last evening, dying in a neighboring house within a few minutes. Mrs. Burket, who is aged 76, had been visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Myers, of 2111 Eighth avenue, and was returning homeward accompanied by her daughter, Mary. They had crossed Seventeenth street at Seventh avenue, and were just stepping up on the curbstone at the opposite side of the street when the aged lady sank to the pavement. John Bamrick, who resides at 1622 Seventh avenue, assisted by several persons who were passing, carried her into the Bamrick home, where she expired in a few minutes. Dr. Albert G. Dymond, who had been hastily summoned, arrived a few minutes after death, which he pronounced due to heart failure. Mrs. Burket, although advanced in years, had been in excellent health, and appeared normal throughout the day and evening, and the death came as a profound shock to the family and friends. Deputy Coroner C. C. Rothrock was summoned and arrived on the scene shortly after death. He decided that an inquest was unnecessary and the body was taken in charge by Undertakers Hickey & O'Neil, to be prepared for burial. Charlotte Caroline Burket was born at Birmingham, Pa., September 4, 1840. Her maiden name was Cramer. She was married in Tyrone in 1865, to Ephraim Burket and the young couple came directly to Altoona where they made their home. Her husband, one of the best known residents of the city, died March 10, 1915. Mrs. Burket is survived by one son and four daughters, as follows: J. Blair Burket, of Burketstown, Pa.; E. Blanche, of Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. W. F. Shandelmeier, of this city and Mary and Ida May, both at home. One brother, Washington Cramer, of Albia, Ia., and one sister, Mrs. George Myers, of this city, as well as two grandchildren, also survive. Mrs. Burket was a faithful member of the Eighth Avenue Methodist Episcopal church. She was well known, the family having been pioneer residents of the city. The funeral arrangements will be announced later. Altoona Tribune, Altoona, Pa., Tuesday Morning, January 9, 1917
