JANE BURKET Mrs. Jane Helsel Burket, widow of Samuel D. Burket, was suddenly stricken with an attack of acute indigestion on Sunday evening, August 21, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Feather, of Taylor township, with whom she made her home for a number of years. The mother and daughter were sitting on the porch enjoying the evening conversation, when Mrs. Burket stopped talking and fell from her chair. Dr. W. L. Hair was quickly summoned but his efforts were of no avail, she having died as she fell. Mrs. Burket was the daughter of Henry and Catharine Helsel, deceased, and was born at the Helsel homestead in Taylor township, September 27, 1861, being aged 59 years, 10 months and 24 days. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Charles Feather and Mrs. Irvin Neterer, of Taylor township, and Mrs. Jacob Jacoby, of Johnstown; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen grandsons and two granddaughters. She is also survived by one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Margaret Dick and Levi Helsel, of near Roaring Spring; Henry Helsel, of Duncansville, and Samuel Helsel, of East Freedom. A brother, Fred Helsel, died just two months ago. The deceased was born and spent her entire life near the place where she died, and will be greatly missed in the home, as she was a loving devoted mother, and among friends and neighbors where she was ever ready and willing to lend a helping hand to those in sickness or distress. On Sunday morning she attended the church services at the Albright Church of the Brethren as was her custom and was enjoying fairly good health but ere nightfall was called home. The funeral service was held on Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Albright Church of the Brethren, conducted by Rev. Moses R. Brumbaugh, assisted by Rev. Charles Garber. Interment in the cemetery adjoining, beside the body of her husband.
