He was born April 17, 1919, in Claysburg, a son of the late Edward Marburg and Laura Alice (Burns) Burket. He married Marie M. McDonald Aug. 9, 1939, in Kernstown, Va. She died Sept. 29, 1992. Mr. Burket attended Claysburg Reformed Church. He retired as a brakeman from Conrail Dec. 8, 1981, with 30 years of service. Mr. Burket was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as a Pfc. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal (Japan), WWII Victory Ribbon and Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. He was a 1938 graduate of Greenfield Township High School, Claysburg. Mr. Burket was a member of the Claysburg American Legion and enjoyed baseball. Surviving are a son, Donald Wayne Burket of Hollidaysburg; and a sister, Rita Lingenfelter of Claysburg. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2001, at Jones Funeral Home, with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Entombment at Alto-Reste Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Claysburg American Legion, Post No. 0522. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today, April 5, 2001, at the Jones Funeral Home.
