  George Burkhart, a resident of Seventh avenue and Twenty-third 
street, died yesterday afternoon after a protracted illness of several 
months.  His disease was contracted while serving in the army during 
the war of the rebellion.  He leaves a wife and five children, who we 
are informed are in very needy circumstances.
