A Fatal Accident at Juniata Yesterday Evening. William J. Burkholder, employed as a car inspector under Foreman O. P. Bush, at Blair Furnace, was instantly killed about 5:40 o'clock last evening. While the workmen were gathering up their tools with the intention of quitting for the day, Burkholder walked between two drafts of cars separated only by a few feet. At the same time a shifting engine drove the cars together and the unfortunate man was caught between the deadwoods just below the neck, his chest being crushed and his neck broken. He was hanging between the deadwoods when found. The body was released, brought to the city shortly after 6 o'clock and taken to the rooms of Undertaker Lafferty. At 8:30 o'clock this morning Coroner Poet held an inquest on the body of Mr. Burkholder, and after examining two witnesses rendered a verdict of accidental death. W. L. Burkholder was 21 years of age and is survived by a wife and an infant child. He resided near Blair Furnace and was a son of Perry G. Burkholder, of Tipton. The funeral services will take place at the late home of the deceased at Blair Furnace, tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, after which the interment will be made in the Antis church cemetery.
