Burley, age 92, of 520 Tacoma Road, Tyrone died Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 1:02 p.m. at her residence. She was born November 17, 1915 in Tyrone, the daughter of John E. and Florence E. Mattern McGovern. On July 27, 1937 at the First English Lutheran Church Parsonage she was married to Richard S. Burley who preceded her in death December 18, 2000. She is survived by two children - Dr. Richard C. Burley (Margaret), Lancaster and Carol B. Hollenbach (Donald), Warriors Mark and seven grandchildren - Donald Hollenbach II, Pittsburgh; Elizabeth L. Hollenbach, Tyrone; Richard G. Burley, Lancaster; Chrissie B. Harris, Lancaster; Rebecca B. Oehme, Lititz; Jennifer B. Ezard, Lancaster and Meg B. Harpster, Pennsylvania Furnace and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Peggy Nearhoof, Tyrone. She was preceded in death by two brothers - William and Jesse McGovern and two sisters - Lorinda Grimm and Marybelle Smith. Mrs. Burley was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and had served as a member of the funeral luncheon committee and with Meals on Wheels. She was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1935. At one time she had been employed at Big Yank and the Bell Telephone Company and had worked at Burley Brothers. She particularly enjoyed being with her family, loved her church and enjoyed being active in the outdoors, working in her yard and cooking special treats for her family. Funeral services for Mrs. Edna M. Burley will be Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 3 p.m. at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Susan Yatta officiating. Interment will be in Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
