He was born Oct. 24, 1934 at Blandburg, a son of William L. and Mary Edith (Van Scoyoc) Burns. He was married May 23, 1953 at Cumberland, MD to Delores Louise Lucas who died May 7, 2001. He is survived by six children: Charles E. Burns, Jr. of Tipton; Vickie L. Shaw of Altoona; William J. Burns of Greenwood; David J. Burns of Tyrone; Gregory M. Burns of Altoona and John M. Burns of Tyrone. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He had attended the Bellwood schools and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He always enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He retired from the machine room of Westvaco Corp. with more than 35 years of service. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2005 at 8 p.m. at the Derman Funeral Home, Inc., Tyrone with Pastor Gerald O. Walters officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery.
