He was born April 30, 1896, the son of William and Emma (Wyant) Burns, and was married to Leotta O. Haslett May 23, 1918, in the United Church of Christ, Altoona, by Rev. Cosman. Surviving are his wife and a son, William of Milaca, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and four sisters and brothers, Mrs. Laura Burket of Claysburg, Mrs. Catherine Ostrander and Clyde of Altoona and Samuel of Maryland. Mr. Burns was a veteran of World War I and retired in 1961 from the signal department of the PRR after 39 years of service. He was a member of the United Church of Christ. May 23 he and his wife would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Friends will be received in the Gilden Barton Funeral Home from 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. Altoona Mirror, March 30, 1968
