Hoffman, 6 West Twelfth street, Tyrone, after an illness of two weeks. Born August 21, 1866, in Centre county, he was a son of Abraham and Lucy (McMonigal) Burns. He married Alice C. Woodle January 2, 1884, at Mount Pleasant. She died December 10, 1907. Members of the family include ** children, Mrs. L. R. Barto, of Pennsylvania Furnace, T. A. Burns, Huntington, W.Va.; E. R. Burns, Barree; R. L. Burns, Bellwood; Mrs. S. R. Stine, Vail; H. E. Burns, Akron, O.; C. F. Burns, Gatesburg; Mrs. John O. Hoffman, Tyrone; A. C. Burns, Centre Line, and Violet and Edith, Wilmington, Del., 47 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, two brothers, S. M. Burns of Bellwood and E. E. of Blue Ball, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Dodd, Sandy Ridge. Mr. Burns was a member of the Tyrone United Brethren church, of the Men's Bible class of the Sunday school and of Allegheny Gateway lodge No. 187, I.O.O.F.
