MRS. LYDIA BURNS,

Wife of David Burns of 806 Fourth avenue, died of paralysis at 6:20 
o'clock last night, at her home. She had suffered three strokes, the 
last one yesterday. Mrs. Burns, whose maiden name was Lydia Houseman, 
was born in Penn's Valley, Centre county, on September 12, 1836, and 
was married on July 4, 1861, to David Burns in Altoona, and resided 
here ever since with her husband. She is survived by her husband and 
one daughter, Mrs. Ada Rainey; also one grand-daughter, Olive Burns 
Rainey, one brother, David Houseman of Lakemont Terrace, and five 
sisters, viz: Mrs. Emma Robison and Mrs. Maggie Prideaux of Altoona, 
Miss Irene Houseman of Smith's Mills, Clearfield county, Mrs. Harry 
[Goss*] of Little Rock, Ark., and Mrs. Nannie Prag*, of Allegheny City. 
Deceased was a good Christian woman with many friends and was a 
consistent member of the First Lutheran church in this city, which she 
joined when thirteen years of age. The funeral will be held on Saturday 
afternoon, the cortege leaving the house at 2 o'clock, and proceeding 
to the First Lutheran church, where the services will be held and 
conducted by Rev. O. C. Roth. Interment will be made in Fairview 
cemetery.
