Mr. Burns had been in failing health for some time from a complication of diseases. Last Monday he became much worse and his children were advised to take him to Mercy Hospital, Altoona, for treatment. The change did not benefit him and he continued to grow worse until the final summons came this morning at the above time. Patrick Burns was born in Dongal county, Ireland and was aged about sixty-five years. When he was a young man of twenty years he came to America and located in Tyrone. During his younger days, he followed the occupation of excavating contractor. He was industrious and performed his work in a most efficient manner. He was a kind, good husband and father and will be greatly missed. His wife preceded him to the grave November 1, 1910. He was a member of St. Matthews Catholic church. Surviving to mourn his death are the following children: Mrs. William Manes, Altoona; John, William and Margaret at home. Tyrone Herald, Tyrone, Pa., Thursday, July 16, 1914 BURNS. Patrick Burns died at the Mercy hospital Saturday morning at 1 o'clock, having been brought to the local institution from his home in Tyrone a day previous to his death. He was born in Ireland 65 years ago and was an excavating contractor. He was a member of St. Matthew's church and is survived by four children: Mrs. Mary Maines, this city; John, Margaret and William, of Tyrone. One sister, Miss Rose Burns of Clearfield, Pa., and one brother, John of Cleveland, O., survive. Altoona Times, Altoona, Pa., Monday, July 13, 1814, page 7
