BURNS, A former Altoonan residing at McHenry, Md., died at 4.20 a.m. today, Jan. 14, 1970, in Mercy Hospital, where he was admitted Dec. 31, after a long illness. He was born in Altoona Aug. 18, 1891, a son of William and Emma (Weyandt) Burns, and married Annie Reifsteck. Surviving are his wife, three children, Mrs. Alma Wachter of McHenry, William of Altoona and Mrs. Rose May of Arlington, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Laura Burket of Claysburg, Mrs. Catherine Ostrander and Clyde of Altoona. Mr. Burns was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and Men's Bible Class and Frohsinn Society. He retired as a gang foreman in the [here there is a line of obscured text] Pennsylvania Railroad.
