Grant Burns of Roaring Spring who served as mill foreman for the Roaring Spring planing mill for the past 46 years, died at the Nason Hospital at noon Thursday, June 22, [1950-ed.] after being ill the past seven weeks. Mr. Burns was born Aug. 17, 1873, at Roaring Spring, the son of Samuel and Catherine Colbert Burns, and was married three times, first to Margaret Moore [should read "Mosel"-ed.] and second to Jane Hanley. Both are deceased. On Jan. 20, 191[*], [20 June 1915-ed.] he was married to Bertha E. Snyder, at Lakemont, by Rev. Cyrus Nonemaker, and she survives with one daughter to the first union, Mrs. Emory Ross of Warriors Mark; one adopted son, Samuel Brown of Johnstown; two daughters, Dorothy and Marie, at home, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mr. Burns was a member of the Bare Memorial Church of God, Roaring Spring. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the above named church, conducted by Rev. Charles Wright and Rev. W. H. Hower. Interment in Greenlawn cemetery, Roaring Spring. [Altoona Mirror], June 23, 1950
