At the age of 80, ten years more than the span allotted to man, Mr. John Caffrey died at his resinence [sic], 421 Fifth avenue, yesterday of diseases incident to old age. For the past six years he had been in failing health. The deceased was born in County Longford, Ireland, and came to the United States thirty five years ago, journeying almost directly to Altoona, and here he made his home ever since. He entered the employ of the Pennsylvania Railroad company, and until his failing health forced him to resign was a watchman in the middle division round house. He is survived by his wife but leaves no children. Mr. Caffrey was a consistent member of St. Mark's Roman Catholic church and also belonged to the relief department of the Pennsylvania Railroad company. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Saturday) morning at an hour yet to be decided upon. Altoona Tribune, Friday, December 9, 1898
