Caldwell, Esq., Chief Clerk in the Surveyor General's office of this State, under Generals Campbell and Beath, and Register and Recorder of Blair county, for nine years, immediately preceding Col. Jones, died at Curwinsville, Clearfield county, on Thursday last, aged 63 years. Mr. Caldwell for several years, was associated with Hon. John J. Jones, in the publication of the Register. In the fall of 1874 he was stricken with paralysis, since which time he has been failing. Mr. Caldwell was an honorable, high-toned gentleman, a christian, and very liberal to the church and the poor. Such as he, made the world all the better for their living in it.
